I’m so lucky to be a wedding photographer in Iowa City. There are just so many amazing locations to choose from for engagement and wedding portraits in the Iowa City and Coralville area. This Iowa City engagement session began at Kinnick Stadium and ended at the Coralville Reservoir. I like using different locations with my couples so we have a variety of images that truly reflect their style and capture the love between them as we get to know each other. Engagement sessions are great for breaking the ice between couples and photographers, without the pressure of the wedding day. That way, when I show up to photograph your wedding, we already know each other!
Matt and Megan are Hawkeye fans (of course!), so we decided Kinnick Stadium would be a great backdrop for Matt’s classic car. Iowa City wedding photographers are no stranger to Kinnick, but it’s not everyday that I get to photograph a gorgeous car like this. His Oldsmobile only sees the light of day during good weather, and luckily it was a beautiful day! It was fun seeing how excited Matt was to incorporate something he cares about so much into their engagement photos. With so many beautiful nature spaces in the Iowa City area, I almost always take my couples to a great park during their engagement session. Coralville Reservoir was absolutely perfect with the large dam overflow area for the car. There are also some great little gems along the nature path and their two dogs were able to join in for some portraits, too!
You may notice the Quilt of Valor in some of the photographs. Megan’s mom actually quilted it herself as a gift for Matt to thank him for his service in the Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom. As someone who has the great privilege of pursuing my dream of running an art business because of the sacrifices of our military members, I’m so incredibly thankful and honored to be photographing Matt and Megan’s wedding next week. It will be such a beautiful day filled with lots of love!
