Oh Genevieve. Where can I even start? This little girl is the whole reason my business is flourishing. Before we started our family, I wanted to be THE Iowa City photographer, but I was balancing my business with a full time job. It meant Danielson Photography was on the back burner. I was ticking along, but I only had so much to give. So when I was on maternity leave, I decided I was going to give this my all. I desperately wanted to be home with my baby and really wanted my business to thrive to allow that to happen.
My first month after deciding I was going to be an Iowa City photographer full time, I had 13 sessions. And a 2 month old. I was in over my head. That’s when I realized I needed to reevaluate what I was valuing in my business and in my family. So I regrouped. I now run a photography business that focuses on excellent customer service, high quality portraiture and heirloom quality products that my clients will be able to pass down to future generations. I’m so thankful this little girl was born, with all her spunk and sass. She lit the fire under me to make this business work for our family. You’ll mostly see me working with wedding clients and brave women embracing themselves for some boudoir fun, but I absolutely love being able to photograph families, too.
So here she is. Genevieve Marjorie, 2.5 years old. A heart of gold and a smile (and hair) to match.
